Forest Musical Instruments limited, the pioneer manufacturer in China, has over 40 years of experience, mainly making and exporting 100% solid, handmade professional violins, violas, cellos and double bases. All Forest fiddle materials have been naturally seasoned over 30 or 300 years to guarantee top–quality since the more years of naturally seasoning of the materials, the better tone quality enhanced and value added. Additionally, all semi-finished plates have been naturally seasoned over 10 years for guaranteeing the outstanding tone quality as well.
It is not only our years of experience but also our unique material that distinguishes Forest Violin from others. The top is made out of spruce growing thousands of years, and selected from the primeval forest in north-western China which is the best place growing spruce in the world.
We also use the 300-year-old front- spruce, used to be the girders (spruce) in some Chinese traditional buildings over 300-400 years ago, which were originally found as fiddle making materials by Maestro Maoling Song in 1980 in China.
Violins, violas, cellos and double bass made of these girders for some solo violinists, cellists have been recognized as of the top quality for their exquisite and balanced, brilliant and mellow acoustics. Miss Ma Sha ,the first Chinese winner, playing a viola made by such materials won awards in the international competition in Kazakstan in 2001, and the other owner’s viola valued USD$200,000 but with worse acoustics in D and G strings compared with Forest viola, as the judges believed at the end of this competition. A viola played by Mr. Lizhou Liu, the first violist of the American Chinese Symphony made by Mr. Song in 1985.
